Dear Parents/Carers

This term at nursery we will be learning about spring. Most of our adult led learning opportunities and some of the continuous provision will be linked to the topic. We will continue to focus on growth outdoors and indoors. Children will been involved in digging and planting seeds for summer growth.

The children will be learning about life cycles. We have some tadpoles coming in to nursery early next week, the children will be observing the growth and development, and looking at the changes during the tadpole’s lifecycle.

Now that the warmer weather is (hopefully) upon us, can you please send a sunhat clearly labelled with your child’s name into nursery with them each session that they attend.

We take the safety of the children that attend Rendlesham Day Nursery very seriously. We have a very secure entry and exit system but it relies on parents/carers taking responsibility for their own and other children by ensuring that the front door is closed behind them when they enter and exit the building. Also, that you do not let anyone unknown to you into the nursery.
You may have noticed that we have carried out some building work over the Easter period. The office will now be located at the front of the building and will be separate to the staff room. This will allow parents to be able to talk to management in a confidential environment.

School Places
If you have applied for a school place for your child for September 2016 then you will receive confirmation about which Schools they have been accepted into towards the end of this month.
Please can you let myself or Clare know at your earliest convenience which school your child will be attending so that we are able to contact the Reception teachers and invite them into nursery. This will help to ease your child’s transition into school.

We will also be setting up our role play area in the preschool room as a “Big school” with uniforms, books, pictures and information of local schools. If you have any old school uniforms, pencil cases or book bags that siblings no longer use then please bring them into nursery, where they will be very much appreciated.

We have “transition bags”(situated outside the staff room door) The transition bags include: Starting nursery, moving house, welcoming a new baby, toilet training etc. Please feel free to borrow any of these to use at home with your child, just please remember to use the signing in/ out form.

Reminder -
Can all parents please remember that if you have asked a friend or family member to come and collect your child you must inform the office beforehand and they will need to know the security password stated on your child’s registration form.  As a nursery we have a duty to make sure we know who is picking up your child.  If we haven’t been told about any changes to the normal arrangements we cannot let your child leave without checking.
This can cause embarrassment to the adult involved and can be unsettling for the children.

Please can we remind parents to check their child’s tray regularly as art work, belongings and letters are put in to them.

Dates for your diary:
Bank Holidays- Nursery Closed: Monday 2nd May & Monday 30th May Parents Coffee Morning: Saturday 11th June Summer Half term: 30th May- 3rd June

If you have any questions about your child’s learning or development, or just a general chat to find out how they are getting on at nursery please speak to their key person.
Myself, Clare and Lorraine are also available if you have any questions or comments.

Best Regards
Jenna and the Rendlesham Day Nursery team.
