Rendlesham October News

Dear Parents,

This month the children will be learning about Autumn, focussing on the weather, animals that hibernate and the changes all around us that Autumn brings.

As you spend time with your child outside, help them to notice the differences in the trees particularly the shapes and colours of the leaves.

If you find any Autumn “Treasures” with your children, such as fir cones, conkers and interesting leaves then please bring them in for our autumn displays.

Now that the wetter weather is certainly on the way can you please ensure that your child is suitably clothed for nursery. The children go outside in all weathers; therefore a pair of wellies and a raincoat are a necessity. Could you also provide a pair of clearly named slippers for your child to wear in the nursery and encourage them to change into these at the beginning of their nursery session.

Family Board

If you haven’t yet brought in or emailed over family pictures to be displayed- please do. It’s great for the children to see photos of people that are special to them.

Staff News

This month we will sadly be saying goodbye to Kirsty from our Toddler room. Kirsty has been at nursery since she was a student here and is loved by staff and children alike. She has now chosen a different career path and we wish her the very best of luck!

Notices

Please be aware that there has been a case of head lice at nursery. We have been lucky in the past and never had a spread of it as parents are usually vigilant in checking their child’s hair.

Nursery Events

Photographer at Nursery

We have Horizons photographers coming in for a nursery portrait session on Friday 14th October. If your child is booked into nursery that day they will have their photos taken. If you child doesn’t usually attend on that day but you would like their photo taken then please speak to Jenna or Clare in the office who will be able to advise you of the best time to pop in. All photos will be back in time for Christmas.

The Great British Nursery Bake Off

We will be holding a bake sale on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th October. The children will also be taking part in a “Great British Nursery Bake off” so keep an eye out for photos! We would be very grateful if you could contribute by baking some cakes and buying some too! At Rendlesham Day Nursery we like to teach the children the importance of helping others. A few times a year we fundraise for selected children’s charities, our staff and families are fantastic at supporting us with these.

All monies raised from this event will be donated to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. This is a charity particularly dear to our hearts as an amazing surgeon from there helped my daughter Alyssa when she was poorly as a baby, as well their fantastic staff helping a number of other children between our settings, past and present.

Halloween

On Monday 31st October we will be having a Halloween fun day at nursery. Staff have been busy planning lots of fun art and craft and messy play activities. If your child is booked into nursery that day, please bring them in wearing fancy dress.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards
