April Newsletter Bridge Farm

Room News

We are focusing on farms within the room and will be enjoying activities focused around

this theme. Our role play will be turning into a vegetable shop, and our cosy area into a

farmyard. We will be enjoying sensory play with farm animals in Weetabix, cornflakes,

spaghetti, printing with vegetables, hay and ducks and creating a farm yard in the garden

with hay bales and maybe a tractor made from boxes. We will also be planting some

delicious veg in our vegetable patch and will help them grow by watering them.

Lambs Room

We have really enjoyed exploring our new bakery and have been learning about hot and

cold things that we might find in the kitchen, the children have loved pretending to bake

and make food and have become very imaginative in their play. Whilst in the bakery we

have also been playing with flour, rice and pasta. During the next few weeks we are going

to begin looking at the life cycles of frogs/caterpillars and get our garden ready so we can

do some planting to grow our own fruit and vegetables.

Owls Room

Our pirate ship has sailed into the sunset and we are now having lots of fun starting our life

cycle theme, we already have lots of tadpoles in our room, which we are watching closely.

Next we will be looking at butterflies and eagerly awaiting the arrival of caterpillars, which

we will look after and observe until eventually releasing them into our garden. Our theme

will continue throughout the room having interest tables, counting, ordering and colour

sorting insects on our maths table, messy play with jelly and insects and creating lots of art

work around growing, spring and mini-beast stories for our displays.

We hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter break. We are looking forward to welcoming all the

children into the new term and hearing about all the fun half term activities they have been

doing. We have recently enjoyed talking about spring and various life cycles. To support this

children have had lots of fun exploring our ‘bug house’ role play area and have been on lots

of adventures searching for all kinds of creepy crawlies.

Over the Easter holidays we were lucky enough to get sent some frogspawn and have been

watching these closely every day to look for any changes, we were all excited to see them

change into tadpoles and can’t wait to see what happens next. With school places shortly

being confirmed, we will slowly start talking about ‘big school’ and all the fun things we will

do when we start there in September. Please let us know what school your child will be

attending so we can invite their new teacher into the nursery.

Parents evening – This will be held on Wednesday 4 th May starting at 6.15pm for Ducklings,

Lambs and Owls and Pre-school starting at 6pm. Time slots are available in the office with

your child’s key person and are 10 minutes long. This is a great chance to discuss your

learning journey. Please book a slot with Jo or Pam.

Queen’s 90 th Birthday. The Queen’s actual birthday is on Thursday 21 st April however

celebrations are being held throughout May and June. If I have it correct then the main

celebrations will be taking part on 12 th -15 th May. We hope to celebrate this by having an

afternoon tea party in the garden and with everyone coming dressed in red, white or blue

for the day. Once we have an exact date and any further ideas we will let you know.

Spring looks like it’s finally here….Please could we ask that parents provide suitable

clothing such as a named hat, jacket and wellies for nursery. Children will have access to the

outside area for the majority of the day and will be going out in all weathers. Waterproof

jackets would be ideal however we can provide waterproofs if needed in all rooms

some in, with your child’s name on.

get sports and cooking equipment for across the nursery and we’ll be able to collect

vouchers up until 3 rd May. Please ask as many friends and relatives to help too so we can

collect as much as possible, instore you will get one voucher for every £5 you spend.

Learning Journeys – Please ask your child’s key person if you would like to look at your
