Bridge Farm November News

Staff news/reminders

We would like to re-introduce Lisa Harris who is coming back to work at Bridge Farm from Monday 22nd November. Lisa worked with us from 2009 to 2012 mainly in the lamb’s room before moving away and then becoming a children’s holiday rep in Turkey. Lisa is level 3 qualified with bag loads of experience; she will be working in the Owls room 3 days a week before she returns to Turkey for the summer season.

This will coincide with Vicci (from Owls room) leaving on maternity leave from Friday 18th November. We would like to wish her a very relaxing time off and all the best with welcoming her daughter into the world in December whom we are all looking forward to having cuddles with.

Room News

As the colder weather approaches we will be talking about clothes we wear in the winter to keep us warm. And will dress a paper doll to help with our discussions.

We would like to see if the babies can find the matching gloves and boots. Can they find the pair?

We are going to get messy with some wellie boot printing, walking along the paper making footprints with paint.

As the autumn leaves fall we want to collect them and do some leaf printing and talk about the different colours, shapes and sizes of all the different leaves.

As the children always enjoy doing handprints in the paint we are going to make them into a campfire display to help us feel warm and cosy.

We would also like to create a winter wonderland in our home corner, Made out of our soft white toys.

At the end of the month we will also make a start on our Christmas crafts and decorations.

Lambs Room

At the beginning of November we will be doing some arts and crafts based around the fireworks ad discussing with the children the colours and noises they make. We will also be making some poppies for Remembrance Day.

Towards the end of the month we will begin focusing on Christmas. Changing our displays over to become very festive with lots of Christmas craft and our role play area will be changing into a Christmas home corner.

Please continue to bring in any autumn leaves, pine cones, for us to explore as we will be discussing autumn throughout November.

Owls Room

As bonfire night is soon approaching we will be creating lots of bonfire and firework crafts. All of the children have taken a great interest in shops and animals so we have opened a farm shop as our new role play area. This will encourage the children to take turns and share as well as developing their mathematical skills.

Also we will be learning about farm animals and what they eat and our own healthy eating.

We are going to begin writing our letters to Santa as well as making a start on our Christmas gifts.

Please can we ask for some jars to be brought in for your children? Many thanks.

Butterfly Pre-School

We had lots of fun with our Halloween craft the last few weeks. We dressed up, made pumpkins and ghost cakes and we did some Halloween dancing and activities.

We will be doing a fireworks display board and if anyone wants to bring in pictures of their special firework night. That will be great to see what you all got up to.

We have been focusing on people who help us and we have learnt lots about doctors through our role play area – we are now going to be turning it into a hairdresser’s role play area.

We have nearly finished our Santa letters and we are doing our finishing touches and sending them off to Santa for some early replies. We are all very excited talking about winter and Christmas over the next term.

Bake it better

We raised an amazing £199.48 for Great Ormond Street, many thanks to all that helped buy and eat them. A special thank you to all the staff and parents who helped baked them we couldn’t of done it without you.

Children in need

This year we will be doing a sponsored fitness week from Monday 14th –Friday 18th November which will include aerobics, yoga, hula hooping and ballet. We will be sending home a sponsor form per family to help raise as much money as possible. Last year we raised just over £800 so it would be great if we could match it or even better raise more for this great cause. You can visit for more info.

So our week will look a little like this….

Monday - little motivators

Tuesday - hula hoops, assault course (including a visit from Pudsey Bear)

Wednesday – children’s yoga

Thursday - Ballet

Friday – Aerobics

We will be holding a cake stall on the Thursday and Friday, so if anyone would like to bring in their delicious cakes this will be much appreciated.

We will also be having a Pyjama dress up day on Friday, please bring you children in pyjamas for the day and a small donation of £1 will go to children in need.

Children’s Christmas party

Our children’s Christmas party will be held at Kesgrave war memorial community centre on Sunday 4th December 10am-12pm. We will be having a disco with party games and tombola, visit from Santa and party food. Letters will be sent out with a slip to be returned. We have limited space due to health and safety reason so we will be handing out tickets.

Christmas bauble and heart pottery gifts

If you have ordered a heart of bauble please could we have payment by Friday 11th November. They are at a cost of £10 each and due to it being an outside company it would need to be paid by cash in the office please.

Nursery Photo’s

They have now been returned, if they are not handed to you in the rooms; please pop in the office to collect them and return them within 7 days so we can put in any orders.

Parent questionnaires

We like to give parents the opportunity every year to take part in our nursery questionnaire. We are always continuing to strive and improve our setting and this is a great opportunity to help us with any improvements we might need to make/change. We really value your feedback and would appreciate it if you could take some time out to fill in our anonymous questionnaire using the following link:

Thank you to all the parents who have recently completed one, once we have collected all the information we will feed back to parents.
