World Book Day

We are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March. Children are invited to come in dressed as a book character of their choice and bring along the book if you have it. We will be planning lots of fun filled activities and showing off our costumes in a character parade.

Information Regarding the 30 Hours Funding

At present all 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to the equivalent of 15hours per week free childcare, in September this will be doubling to 30 hours for eligible families.

Qualifying Criteria

As with the existing 15 hours early years entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds, children become eligible for the additional 15 hours at the start of the school term after a child’s third birthday.

Definition of Working Parent/ Carers

In order to qualify for the additional 15 hours funding both parent/carers must be in work, as defined below, and for single parent/carer families, the sole parent/carer must be in work:

•       For the purposes of this scheme, 'in work’ is defined as being in employment (including self-employed) and earning more than the equivalent of the minimum wage for working 16 hours a week. As an example, the current minimum wage is £7.20 per hour for over 25s, so the minimum weekly income to be eligible would be £7.20 x 16 = £115.20/ week.

•       Each parent must also earn less than £100,000 per year.

•       If one parent/ carer is in receipt of disability benefit or benefits related to caring responsibilities; the other parent/ carer must be a ‘working parent/ carer’ as outlined above.

In order for us to prepare for the extended entitlement, we will shortly be sending out a questionnaire for you to complete to ascertain how many of you within the setting may wish to take up the offer of the additional hours if your child is eligible for 3 and 4 year old funding in September 2017.
Please complete and return them to Clare or myself in the office at your earliest convenience.
