February Newsletter - Rendlesham

Room News
Babies – Adventure room
This term we have a whole room focus on cooking using self-choosing ingredients and also messy play and sensory experiences.
We are currently updating our Family photo board. Please do email or drop in some pictures of those people that are important to your child so that we can share them with the children.
Now that spring is on its way, we will be looking to improve the garden area – planting herbs and developing the sensory play. With this in mind we have been experimenting with moon sand and also playing in the mud kitchen.
The children have been building their confidence whilst being involved in the cooking activities that we have to offer. They have made muffins, cakes, tarts and pizzas etc. We are offering the children to choose their own pizza topping to give them independence skills and show personal preferences.

Toddlers – Rainforest room
We have two areas of focus this term– improving the small garden area and also encouraging speech and language development.
We would be delighted if you could please send in some family photos for our display board. You can do this by email or as an actual photo that we can copy. The display board will enable us to talk to the children about home, family and pets allowing us to follow their interests and encourage conversations between staff and children.
We will be turning our role play area into a Garden centre - and outside will be growing plants such as tomatoes, beans and strawberries from seed. If you have any pots, bottles or seeds that you would like to contribute, it would be really appreciated.
Polite reminder to Check trays for your Mother’s day cards and gifts towards the end of the month.

Pre-School – Jungle room
We have finished with the space station role play and now turned our role play area into a travel agents and would be really keen if parents could bring in postcards and pictures from holidays that their children will be able to share, copy and display.
We would be particularly interested in any evidence of days out with your children around the UK for our “Great Britain board”.
In addition to this we have also been celebrating Chinese New Year, Valentine’s day and are going to do a whole class topic on spring.
We also had a wonderful day doing some yoga with the children and think it will become a fun addition to our weekly planning.

Dates for your Diary
Half term week is Monday 15th – Friday 19th February for term time only children.

Sainsbury’s active vouchers
We are now collecting for active kids 2016. By collecting these vouchers we will be able to get sports and cooking equipment for across the nursery and we’ll be able to collect vouchers up until 3rd May. Please ask as many friends and relatives to help too so we can collect as much as possible, in store you will get one voucher for every £5 you spend.

Colder weather – Please could we ask that parents provide suitable clothing for the colder weather especially a warm named coat, scarfs, hats, gloves and wellies for nursery as children will have access to the Outside area for the majority of the day and will be going out in all weathers.

Dear Parents, please can I bring the following website to your attention.

Many thanks,
Jenna and the team.
