Staff news

Mel – We would like to re-introduce Mel to all the parents at Bridge Farm, Mel will be working between here and Rendlesham day nursery and is level 3 qualified. Mel is here to support the staff in all rooms on our busiest days and has lots of experience working within all age ranges.

As the nursery continues to develop due to our increasing numbers, Pam is spending more time in the office to help it run efficiently. After much consideration we feel it would benefit the baby room to have a full time superviser. Pam of course will miss working alongside the babies and the key children but is looking forward to progressing her career within the company.

We are delighted to welcome Becca (Rebecca) Butler to Bridge Farm. Becca has worked at her previous nursery for 6 years where she has gained valuable experience and worked her way up to a senior member of staff. Becca has worked with children aged from 4 months to 5 years and is a trained Special educational needs co-ordinator. Becca will start with us on Monday 10th October and work alongside Pam throughout October to meet parents, children and take over key person responsibility.

Room News

We can’t believe we are now in autumn but hope the sunshine stays with us for a little longer. We will be focusing on the hungry caterpillar as our theme and have made a giant caterpillar out of a box for the children to post objects in or throw balls. We will be looking at the story, using puppets and being creative with our hands and feet to make butterflies and caterpillars. We will also be looking at the harvest festival

Lambs Room

We will be focusing on autumn and turning our role area into a farm yard. We will have different sensory trays, make animal masks for the children and a hopefully a tractor from some giant boxes. We will make a giant scarecrow for our display and look at the changes in the weather and different clothes we need to wear.

Owls Room

This month we will be looking at modes of transport and how we travel. We will be turning our display into ways we can travel and our role play area into an aeroplane - Bridge Farm airways!! This will engage the children in various discussions about our topic, mathematic opportunities and there will be lots of creative opportunities like making passports, tickets and maps of countries to visit We will be also be focusing on numbers 1-10 and basic colours.

Butterfly Pre-School

The children have nearly finished trialling from owls and we would like to welcome all the new children into our exciting environment. We will be focusing on numbers, colours, letter sounds and people who help us throughout the autumn term. Our role play is currently a farm shop to work around harvest time followed by people who help us. (Changing each week to be a police station, fire station, hospital etc.) We will also be handing out some scavenger bags for your children to collect autumn objects to bring back to nursery for some exciting activities to take place.

Bake it better

We will be supporting Great Ormond Street in raising funds by holding a cake stall on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th October. Bake, raise some dough and help children and families at Great Ormond street.

The money raised will go towards:

  • Building a better hospital so more patients can stay with their children
  • Research to improve care and cures
  • New equipment to help our exceptional doctors and nurses
  • Patient and family support
